The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) made several changes to consumer product safety laws in August 2008. Effective February 10, 2009 the lead limit for any children’s product is 600 parts per million (ppm) total lead content by weight for any part of the product. The lead limit will be lowered again to 300 ppm total lead content by weight effective August 2009. In addition, the CPSIA makes it unlawful to sell or distribute any child’s product that contains 0.1 percent or more of chemicals known as phthalates.
All of Hohner Kids products are fully compliant with the new CPSIA regulations. We would like to assure you that all products manufactured and distributed by Hohner, Inc. have been thoroughly safety tested and are compliant with ASTM F963 safety standards for the U.S. toy market. These reports are available for review upon request. Hohner, Inc. will continue to stay compliant and up to date as these laws change.
Making sure our products are safe and appropriately labeled for their intended use is extremely important to everyone at Hohner. Many of our traditional rhythm instruments are still manufactured in the U.S., Israel and Germany. For example, most of our wood blocks, wrist bells and recorders have these manufacturing origins. The majority of our early childhood/toddler products are manufactured in Israel. We have the majority of our products manufactured in higher-cost locations to help ensure that the materials used are safe and the production quality is high.
We appreciate your continued support of Hohner products. You can continue to recommend, buy and sell our products, knowing that we stand behind all of our products and will continue to distribute quality, safe musical instruments. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us.
